Second Birth

Many of us remember vividly the births of our children. We remember how we felt, the sound of their first cry, their first diaper changes, their minute size, and the realization that we are now responsible for raising up a good person in this world.  But then there comes a point some parents have the opportunity to see and that is the second birth of their children!  This one has many other thoughts of the future, past, and present.

Last Wednesday February 21st 2018, my oldest daughter Sirrah and my nephew Kyendon made the decision to submit to Christ. Without being prompted or poked on what would be a rainy, cold, and gloomy day they decided to be baptized for the remission of their sins.  The church was empty because of the terrible weather, I had been there all day trying to figure out how to turn on the warmer for the baptismal pool and it was finally successful!  Little did I realize that it would later be for the purposes of having my child be baptized in warm water on a cold day!

It was a happy and awkward moment for myself, I cannot speak for my wife.  The whole life of being a parent of a child you are guiding them and at times forcing them to do things.  You tell them when to wake up, when to go to bed, what to eat, what not to eat, and so on.  Then all of a sudden on a day that you are ready to go home and get into your warm bed your child makes a decision to obey the Gospel!  I used to look at parents who would cry about their children leaving home and going to college as weirdos but now I partly understand!  The more they grow, the more they become independent of you.  Have my wife and I had discussions about baptism with our children? Yes. Had we discussed what it means to live the life of a Christian? Yes.  At times it seems as though they aren't listening to what you have to say but now I believe they do.  I wonder if my parents are as tripped out my me as I am of my children?

I am blessed to have one of three of my children be baptized and am confident that my other two will continue in that path once they fully understand what it means as well.  I believe my wife's example of Christianity played a huge role as well as those who teach them weekly in Bible class.  I want to thank the members of the body including my parents for keeping an eye out on these P.K's I am now beginning to ramble so check out the pics below.
