It all started when...

    The Avenue G Church of Christ has been in existence since March of 2017 when they moved into the building on the corner of Avenue G and 11th.  But their roots run deeper.  

    Some members have been with this congregation since its inception and rode the waves of uncertainty.  And through much adversity God has allowed this congregation not only to survive but grow spiritually and numerically.  This Church of Christ has worshiped in many places including a community center and Knights of Columbus hall here in Temple.  There are many members here from various places.  Some were already members of the Church of Christ and some had never been members of a Church before in their lives.  

    In November of 2016 Bro. Christopher Wayne Stephens became the minister of the congregation and continues to serve in that capacity.  His wife Delia Stephens and his three daughters Sirrah, Nadiyah, and Tessah continue to serve alongside him.  He is a graduate of Austin Graduate School of Theology where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 2018.  His goal is to guide the congregation toward maturity and truly seek to be People of More by Learning More, Loving More, Doing More, & Teaching More.  Minister C.W. Stephens does not seek to minister to a "black church" or "mega church".  His goal is to help guide the congregation towards a mature congregation that mirrors the body in the Bible.  One that is not bound by race, tradition, or creed.  Simply a group of like minded people who love God enough to be MORE everyday!
