2018 Theme
As I began thinking on themes for our congregation in the latter part of 2017 for the upcoming year I had to take a look back on this congregation. The Avenue G Church of Christ took major strides in 2017! God saw us through worshiping at Knights of Columbus in the cold little room and right into a building that by the end of 2017 we were already getting crowded in. God saw fit that we would win some souls in 2017 and have them remain and grow throughout the year with the body. We were able to have successful door knocking and Bible study campaigns in addition to Vacation Bible School. And we are now preparing to take our youth to their first Lads to Leaders conference. We were blessed to have EVERY single brother present a lesson in 2017, showing that our men are apt to teach! Our membership more than doubled but my greatest joy came from the spiritual growth. When presenting the classes I did not think that so many would come out to them, especially when it meant giving up a great portion of your Sunday. But Avenue G showed up and grew! I did not think that our ministries outside the building would grow and mature so quickly but I no longer have to be there for them to go well! All of this took time and effort on the part of everyone in the congregation.
We were able to build a foundation that will last! A foundation that is built on God and I know that coming into 2018 we are TIRED! But I want you to take a look at the image below.
A solid foundation has been laid! It took a lot of work, we are tired, and it may seem as though we gave ALL we had in 2017! But there is more work to be done! DO NOT GIVE UP! In 2018 I want to see the Avenue G Church of Christ CONTINUE... God will reward us IF we continue HIS work in 2018! Let's continue to BUILD and grow spiritually. Last year I set modest goals for myself but as you know we are PEOPLE OF MORE! Let's do more! Take God at His word, do your part, and watch God show out!
